Types of LPN Programs
There are two main types of LPN programs: diploma programs and associate degree programs. Diploma programs typically take one year to complete and lead to a diploma in practical nursing. Associate degree programs take two years to complete and lead to an associate degree in nursing (ADN).
ADN programs provide a more comprehensive education and include coursework in liberal arts and sciences. Graduates of ADN programs are eligible to sit for the NCLEX-RN exam to become registered nurses (RNs).
Qualifications for LPNs
Individuals who want to become LPNs must meet certain qualifications. These qualifications include:
